Our son, raised in an evangelical church, came out to us twelve years ago. We realized the fear and trepidation he must have experienced before and loved him even more. It broke our hearts knowing that he had to keep his SSA hidden from his parents and church acquaintances. We, and my wife especially, had to grieve and say goodbye to the idea of a son we thought we had and the dreams about having grandchildren from him, but we embraced the SAWE SON with the same love.
